After installing nEvie, press Home and choose nEvie if Android shows a launcher picker. If Android keeps returning to another launcher, open Android Settings, search for "default apps" or "home app", and select nEvie as the Home app. nEvie does not require an account for core launcher use.

Open nEvie Settings to adjust the Home grid, dock, folder grid, icon sizes, icon labels, search bar, navigation bar visibility, wallpaper scrolling, and orientation behavior. Home, dock, folders, and app drawer each have their own layout settings where that makes sense. If a change looks wrong in landscape, check the orientation and rotation mode in General settings; separate landscape mode keeps its own Home pages.

Home gestures are configurable in Settings > Gestures. The available gesture shapes are double tap, swipe up, swipe down, pinch, expand, two-finger swipe up, two-finger swipe down, and the launcher Home button behavior. By default, swipe up opens the app drawer; other gestures can be assigned in Settings. Actions include app drawer, nEvie search, page management, launch app, expand notifications, Google Now, voice search, and screen lock where the device supports them.

Swipe up on Home to open the app drawer. Settings > App drawer controls grid or list display, columns, icon size, icon labels, the alphabet index style, and whether recently installed apps appear in a New section. Long-press an app to open its item context menu or drag it toward Home to place it on a page.

Enable the Home search bar in Settings > Search, or assign nEvie search to a gesture. Search can include apps, internet search, frequently used apps, recent results, and Contacts when you enable the Contacts provider and grant permission. Settings > Search also controls the web engine, Done key behavior, whether web results open in a browser, and whether web searches are saved in recent results.

Long-press a placed app, shortcut, folder, or widget to open item actions. From there you can remove an item from Home, open app information where Android supports it, change an individual icon, or configure a widget when the widget provider offers configuration. Long-press and drag to reorder items. Dragging one app or shortcut onto another creates a folder; dragging onto an existing folder adds the item.

Drag outside the active folder area to hand an item back to Home. If folder sorting is set to alphabetical, manual folder reordering is disabled until alphabetical sorting is turned off.

Open Page Management and use the Widgets area to choose a widget. Drag the widget preview to Home. Some widgets need Android binding permission or a provider configuration screen before placement is saved. If placement is denied, cancelled, or invalid, nEvie rolls back the pending widget and keeps the layout stable. Resize handles appear for placed widgets; if a widget is too small for its provider, nEvie shows a placeholder instead of broken content.

Open Page Management from its Settings entry or from a configured gesture. Use it to jump to a page, add pages, reorder pages, set the default page, remove pages, or open the widget picker. The delete action is unavailable when only one page remains. In separate landscape mode, portrait and landscape page sets are managed separately.

Install an icon pack, then open Settings > Icon pack and choose System or an installed pack. nEvie refreshes icons when the selected pack changes and returns to System icons if the selected pack is no longer available. To override one placed app or shortcut, long-press it, choose Change icon, then pick the current icon, a suggested match from installed packs, or an icon from a specific pack's searchable grid.

Open Settings > Hide apps and toggle the apps you want to hide. Hidden apps are removed from the app drawer. Turn on Hide from search if you also want them excluded from nEvie search. Apps are tracked by profile-aware identity, so personal, work, and private copies can be controlled separately when Android exposes those profiles.

Settings > Unread badges controls whether badges are shown, badge style, badge size, and badge sources. Messages unread badges require SMS permission when enabled. Gmail unread badges require Gmail provider access and selected Gmail accounts. Notification-count badges require Android Notification Access. If badges stop updating, check the source toggle, Android permission or access screen, Gmail account selection, and profile availability.

Go to Settings > Backup & Restore to export or import a local backup file, review Android Platform Auto Backup status, or set up manual Google backup. Local backups do not require a Google account. Google backup is optional and uses your Google account for Drive app-folder backup. Backups include layout and settings, but not icon caches, frequent-app history, recent search history, or Google sign-in session state. Restore may skip missing apps, unavailable profiles, or widgets that cannot be rebound.

Settings includes Feedback, Help Center, and Privacy Policy entries. Help and Privacy open in your browser. Debug-only Development settings can appear in debug builds used for testing; they are not required for normal launcher setup.
